A federal court issued a preliminary injunction against Connecticut’s new restriction on handgun sales in early October.
Applying Bruen, the court found that restricting the purchase of the covered handguns burdens conduct protected by the Second Amendment. It also found that those handguns, in their normal unmodified form, are safe, commonly owned for self-defense and protected.
A preliminary injunction isn’t a final ruling. The state can appeal to the Second Circuit, which has generally been friendly to gun restrictions.
Will this hold up on appeal?
