Magpul has expanded its AR-15 stock lineup with the release of the new DT-S Carbine Stock, combining the company’s Dual Tension locking system with waterproof battery storage and an enlarged cheek weld. The new adjustable stock builds on Magpul’s existing DT design, adding practical features for rifle owners who want a secure-fitting stock with room to carry spare batteries.

The Magpul DT-S Carbine Stock is available now with an MSRP of $94.95. It is designed for mil-spec carbine receiver extensions and is compatible with AR-15 and AR-10-pattern rifles using the appropriate buffer tube. The stock is made in the United States and weighs 15 ounces.

One of the DT-S’s main features is Magpul’s Dual Tension (DT) technology, which was introduced with the company’s original DT Carbine Stock. The system uses an internal, automatically engaging friction lock to increase tension against the receiver extension, minimizing the movement and rattling that can occur with adjustable stocks.

Unlike stocks that require a separate friction-lock lever, the DT-S uses a single ambidextrous adjustment latch. Shooters can change the length of pull without manipulating a secondary locking mechanism, making adjustments straightforward whether the rifle is being used at the range, during competition, or for defensive purposes.

The DT-S offers approximately 3.3 inches of length-of-pull adjustment, with an overall stock length of 7.4 inches.

Waterproof Storage for Optics and Weapon Light Batteries

The most noticeable addition to the DT-S is its pair of integrated storage tubes. Each compartment uses dual O-ring seals and is rated waterproof to a depth of 10 meters, according to Magpul.

Each tube accommodates up to two CR123 or AA batteries, giving rifle owners space for four spare batteries directly on the firearm.

For anyone running a battery-powered red dot, weapon light, or other electronic accessories, keeping replacement batteries on the rifle makes sense. Spare batteries stored in the stock stay with the firearm instead of getting buried in a range bag or left behind when equipment is changed.

The storage compartments also serve another purpose. Their wider profile creates an enlarged, sloping cheek-weld surface intended to provide more consistent facial contact and improved comfort when shouldering the rifle.

Built for Practical Rifle Handling

Magpul equipped the DT-S with a contoured, nonslip rubber butt-pad featuring an angled toe. The design is intended to provide secure shoulder contact while making it easier to mount and dismount the rifle, including when wearing body armor.

Sling attachment options include ambidextrous anti-rotation QD swivel sockets and a 1.25-inch footman’s loop. The stock is also compatible with Magpul ASAP and ASAP QD receiver-mounted sling attachments.

For owners who want additional length of pull, Magpul offers an optional MOE SL Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad that adds 0.70 inches.

Price, Colors, and Availability

The DT-S carries a suggested retail price of $94.95, placing it $25 above Magpul’s standard $69.95 DT Carbine Stock and at the same price as the company’s MOE SL-S storage stock.

Magpul currently offers the DT-S in Black, Flat Dark Earth, and Olive Drab Green, with Modified Coyote Brown expected later. The stock is listed as in stock on the manufacturer’s website.

The DT-S isn’t a completely new approach to adjustable rifle stocks. Instead, Magpul has combined two proven concepts: its Dual Tension locking system and integrated battery storage.

For AR-15 owners who appreciate a tight-fitting adjustable stock but also want onboard storage and a substantial cheek weld, the DT-S brings those features together without adding another adjustment lever.

The new stock is available directly from Magpul.
