Osight has moved into rifle optics with the new Osight R, an enclosed-emitter red dot designed for rifles and carbines.
The R uses a selectable 2 MOA dot and 65 MOA circle reticle. You can run the dot by itself, the circle by itself, or both together.
It uses the common Micro T1/T2 footprint, which is a nice choice since there are already a ton of compatible mounts available.
Other specs include a 7075-T6 aluminum housing, side-loading CR2032 battery, shake-awake, 9 daylight brightness settings and 3 night-vision settings. Osight rates it IPX8 for water resistance and advertises battery life as high as 83,000 hours depending on the reticle and brightness setting.
The window is also fairly large for this style of enclosed rifle optic at about 1.10 × 0.87 inches.
Osight has mostly been associated with pistol optics, so the R is an interesting move into the rifle market. The T1/T2 footprint was probably the right way to do it rather than introducing another proprietary mounting system.
Anybody considering one of these, or are you sticking with the established rifle optic brands?
