One of the better decisions SIG made with the new P385 was not introducing another completely different magazine.
According to SIG, the P385 uses P320 magazines.
There is one catch. Older P320 magazines with the original rounded basepad require the P385's metal magwell to be removed. So "P320 compatible" doesn't necessarily mean every old P320 magazine will fit every P385 configuration exactly as it sits.
The P385 Carry uses a flush-fitting 17-round magazine, and SIG also packages 21-round magazines with some configurations.
Most of the rest of the pistol is a new platform. The P385 has its own FCU, grip system, slide and other major components. SIG specifically says P320 magazines, the P320 AXG magwell and P-Series dovetailed iron sights are among the limited existing parts that carry over.
That's actually a pretty significant advantage for somebody who already owns a P320 and has a pile of magazines sitting around.
