This forum was created to provide a place for open, informed discussion about the Second Amendment, firearm laws, concealed and open carry, court decisions, training, safety, equipment, and the issues that affect gun owners across the country.
The goal is pretty simple: build an active community and actually maintain it.
Forums only work when people participate and when somebody is paying attention. Spam shouldn't sit around indefinitely. Reports shouldn't disappear into a black hole. Members shouldn't have to wonder whether anyone is still maintaining the place.
RightToCarry is starting from scratch, and that's intentional. There isn't a massive archive of old threads or thousands of inactive accounts making the place appear larger than it really is. What gets built here will be built by the people who actually participate here.
You don't have to agree with everyone. In fact, some of the best discussions happen when people don't. Debate the subject, challenge the argument, bring sources, share experiences, and disagree when you disagree. Just remember that there's another person on the other side of the screen.
If you've spent years participating in other online communities, that history matters too. We're working on a Community Standing system that can recognize established members based on verified prior experience, including years of participation, contributions, and reputation. Starting somewhere new shouldn't necessarily mean pretending you've never contributed to a community before.
There is still plenty to build, and the forum will evolve as people begin using it. Suggestions are welcome.
If you're new, head over to Introductions and say hello. Otherwise, find a section that interests you and start a discussion.
Welcome to RightToCarry.
